The role provides leadership across packaging lines, shifts, and personnel, ensuring production schedules are met safely and in compliance with cGMP, FDA, DEA, OSHA and company requirements. Strong packaging experience and people leadership are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6–9 years in pharmaceutical packaging or related cGMP environment.
  • 2–3 years of leadership/supervisory experience overseeing production teams.
  • Knowledge of batch records, deviations, CAPAs, root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Packaging Manager in daily packaging operations and compliance.
  • Lead Packaging Supervisors and packaging personnel across shifts and lines.
  • Coordinate schedules, staffing, material readiness, and equipment availability.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements.
  • Review batch records, logbooks, and production reports for accuracy.
  • Act as departmental leader in the Packaging Manager's absence.

Job description

KVK Tech is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager, Packaging to join our team in Newtown, PA.

The Assistant Manager, Packaging will support the Packaging Manager in leading daily packaging operations within a regulated oral solid dosage pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role provides operational leadership across packaging lines, shifts, and personnel to ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with cGMP, FDA, DEA, OSHA, and company requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong pharmaceutical packaging experience, effective people leadership, and the ability to coordinate production activities, resolve operational issues, and drive continuous improvement across the department.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Packaging Manager in overseeing daily packaging operations and ensuring compliance with approved procedures, cGMP requirements, safety standards, and production expectations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Packaging Supervisors and packaging personnel across assigned shifts, lines, and operational areas.
  • Coordinate production schedules, staffing assignments, material readiness, equipment availability, and departmental priorities to maintain workflow and meet packaging goals.
  • Monitor line performance, schedule attainment, downtime, labor utilization, waste, and other operational metrics and implement or recommend appropriate improvements.
  • Review batch records, logbooks, reconciliation records, cleaning documentation, and production reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely completion.
  • Serve as the designated departmental leader in the absence of the Packaging Manager within assigned authority.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 6–9 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical packaging, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or another cGMP-regulated production environment.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience overseeing production employees, packaging lines, or manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of oral solid dosage packaging operations, cGMP requirements, Good Documentation Practices, ALCOA+, and data integrity standards.
  • Experience reviewing batch records, reconciliation documentation, production reports, and packaging performance data.
  • Working knowledge of deviations, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, root cause analysis, equipment qualification, and packaging process validation.
