Assistant Manager I – Family Dollar
This role supports store operations, customer service, and team development within a retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day‑to‑day store activities and operations.
- Provide positive customer service and address inquiries.
- Transfer and organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor, maintaining seasonal areas.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey requests, and other communications.
- Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
- Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits/receipts).
- Maintain a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
- Protect company assets, including store cash.
- Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and company policies.
- Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop associates.
- Maintain a safe, respectful environment and professional interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
- Keep the store clean, including bathrooms and floors, and ensure all areas are presentable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and explain operational directives required.
- Retail, grocery, or drug store management experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
- Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment required.
- Exceptional customer service and organizational skills required.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills required.
