Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is seeking an Assistant Manager in Woodburn, OR to lead daily store operations and support the Store Manager in achieving sales goals. The role focuses on customer service, merchandising, and staff supervision in a fast-paced retail environment.

The ideal candidate will have a solid customer service background, basic math/organizational skills, and a High School diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess basic organizational and/or applicable math skills.
• Detail-oriented and reliable.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus.
• High School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam.
• Flexible Scheduling.
• Upon accepting a position offered, candidate will be subject to E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Operate store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Increase sales performance.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Direct sales and cashier associates throughout the store.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandising and compliance of all company policies.
• Set promotional signage.
• Retrieve merchandise from stockroom as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Oversee footwear and advertising programs, and other departments.
• Open and close the store.
• Train newly hired associates.
• Develop future management candidates.
• Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training of employees.
• Assist in writing a weekly store schedule.
• Inventory control and loss prevention enforcement.
• Enforcement of all company policies.
• Coach, counsel, and discipline employees as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
