Job summary

Plum Market is seeking a Prepared Foods Assistant Team Leader – Front of House to manage FOH operations, ensure fresh and appealing displays, and lead a high-performing team. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service, food safety, and collaboration with BOH and catering teams.

You will train, schedule, and motivate Team Members, drive standards, and support catering execution while maintaining Plum Market’s commitment to local, organic, and specialty offerings.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in foodservice or retail.
• Demonstrated excellence in customer service and team development.
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and rotation practices.
• Catering experience and ability to lead in-house and external service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to train and develop Team Members.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Team Leader to deliver a seamless FOH experience and cohesive department leadership.
• Provide outstanding Customer Service and model best-in-class service standards for the team.
• Oversee daily FOH revenue center operations with fresh, visually appealing displays.
• Lead catering production and service and build relationships with catering guests.
• Interview, hire, train, and develop Team Members with clear expectations and feedback.
• Support scheduling and labor management in alignment with budget and department needs.
• Address Guest and Team Member concerns with professionalism and empathy.
• Collaborate with Store Leadership on performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
• Maintain all food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures per Plum Market policies.

Description:

The Prepared Foods Assistant Team Leader – Front of House (FOH) supports the daily operations of the Prepared Foods Department, ensuring all food stations—such as the pizza counter, carving station, showcase, food bars, and grab-and-go—are fresh, full, and clean. This role leads by example in delivering exceptional Customer Service, managing FOH team performance, and partnering with Back of House (BOH) leadership to create a cohesive, high-performing environment. The Assistant Manager also supports catering execution and plays a key role in team development and departmental success.

What you will bring:

Proven leadership experience in foodservice or retail, with a focus on Customer Service and team development.

Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and product rotation practices.

Catering experience and comfort in leading both in-house and external food service execution.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.

Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.
