Exos in New York is seeking an Assistant Manager, Fitness to lead and mentor staff, drive client engagement, and foster a culture of health and wellness.

You will develop annual plans, manage budgets for fitness programs, supervise personal training and group classes, and support interns while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high-quality service environment.

Qualifications

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships to ensure program success and satisfaction.
  • Develop strategic annual plans, achieving both short- and long-term program goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, reporting, and financial management for fitness programs and operations.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise full- and part-time staff, while fostering team growth and managing performance.
  • Lead and oversee personal training and group exercise programs, ensuring high-quality service and client engagement.
  • Mentor and guide college interns, providing professional development opportunities.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate health promotion initiatives, incentive programs, and specialty offerings.
  • Conduct fitness assessments, develop exercise prescriptions, and provide first workouts for diverse populations, including high-risk participants.
  • Supervise and monitor the exercise floor to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
  • Manage administrative processes, including membership enrollments, terminations, and member inquiries.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the fitness center's operations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience overseeing a large staff, preferably in the fitness or hospitality industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in an exercise-related field (e.g., Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc.).
  • Current, nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., ACE, NASM, NSCA, or equivalent).
  • Outgoing personality with excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Per pay transparency requirements, the compensation for this position ranges from $20 - $30/hour. Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay is dependent on factors including site location, specialty, certifications and work experience as well as other business needs. Exos offers a comprehensive benefits package for all full time employees (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements), which includes health insurance, life and disability benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Additionally, Exos offers a variety of part time benefits (subject to eligibility requirements)
