Job summary

SEI Global Services, Inc. is expanding its Investment Manager Services Division and seeking a Private Equity Assistant Manager for the Alternative Investment Funds team in Oaks, PA.

You will support the Fund Accounting Manager, supervise staff, train new employees, and ensure premier client service within deadlines and best practices. You will price and record hedge and private equity holdings, perform reconciliations for NAVs, and prepare comprehensive accounting packages.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the fund services industry, alternatives experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience / management skills and/or coaching / mentoring.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge and expertise of Investran, Investier, and Geneva systems preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of trade processing and accounting for equities, fixed income and derivative instruments.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The self-motivation, organization and drive to complete multiple client deliverables in a timely manner without sacrificing excellence or quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as you will primarily support your clients through email and/or phone calls.
  • Strong customer service skills as you will be communicating daily with your clients and other service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist staff with daily, weekly, monthly fund accounting tasks.
  • Price and maintain timely records for hedge and private equity holdings using external pricing sources.
  • Prepare reconciliations for Net Asset Values and provide accounting reports.
  • Coordinate and support year-end audit engagements in GAAP.
  • Perform due-diligence to ensure client compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Train and supervise accounting analysts on systems, processing, procedures, and responsibilities.
  • Manage a team environment to meet multiple client deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Communicate fund transactions with internal and external clients to provide accurate accounting packages.
  • Interact with external investment managers regarding reconciliations and deliverables.
  • Contribute to performance appraisals and career development for team members.
  • Participate in analyst interviews to ensure staffing needs are met.

Job description

The Investment Manager Services Division (IMS) at SEI is growing rapidly and is seeking new members on our Alternative Investment Funds team. The Private Equity Assistant Manager in the alternative investment fund department is responsible for fully supporting the Fund Accounting Manager in the day to day aspects of managing a Fund Accounting team, and for supervising and assisting the staff with the daily\weekly\monthly functions of the alternative investment funds department. You must supervise the staff and enforce the standards set for them. You will also be responsible for training new employees and for ensuring premier client service standards are achieved within specified deadlines and according to best practices.

What you will do:
  • Your skills in accounting will be used by pricing and maintaining timely records for hedge and private equity holdings using various external pricing resources.
  • You will perform timely reconciliations regarding Net Asset Values and provide accounting reports.
  • You are responsible to communicate the transactions associated with the fund(s) and work closely with internal and external clients to provide accurate and thorough accounting packages.
  • As the record keeper for the fund, you will be involved in the coordination and support of various year‑end audit engagements in accordance with GAAP accounting standards.
  • We will need you to perform due‑diligence to ensure clients are in compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • You will train and supervise the accounting analysts on systems, processing, procedures, and job responsibilities.
  • You will assist in managing a team environment that encourages self‑motivation, organization and drive to complete multiple client deliverables in a timely manner without sacrificing excellence or quality.
  • Your due diligence and attention to detail during the review process of the fund accountant analysts work will be key to your team’s success while striving for error free reconciliations and reporting.
  • You will correspond with external investment managers regarding day‑to‑day fund inquiries including reconciliations, coordinating scheduled deliverables, and escalation concerns.
  • Client engagement and a dedication to quality service is a must for success.
  • You will assist the manager with conducting performance appraisals, monthly one‑on‑ones with the team analysts and provide career pathing and training.
  • You will also ensure staffing requirements are met by participating in analyst interviews.
  • You will team with the manager to provide and foster a team environment to include individual development, promotions and disciplinary action.
