Job Description

As an Assistant Manager, you are responsible for everything that happens during your shift: cost controls, inventory control, cash control and customer relations. You must set the example, follow all policy and procedures 100% of the time, and expect the same from your crew. Your duties also include staffing, paperwork, food management, scheduling, maintaining a perfect image, adhering to standards, providing great customer service, attendance, transportation, store cleanliness, marketing and profitability.

Key Tasks

• Operate all equipment.
• Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk‑in cooler.
• Prepare product.
• Receive and process telephone orders.
• Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
• Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.

Communication Skills

• Provide correct written instructions.
• Communicate verbally with customers and co‑workers to process orders both over the phone and in person.

Essential Functions / Skills

• Add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately and quickly (calculator may be used).
• Make correct monetary change.
• Use verbal, written and telephone skills to take and process orders.
• Maintain motor coordination between eyes and hands to perform precise movements quickly.
• Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.

Work Conditions

• Varying and sometimes adverse weather when removing trash and performing other outside tasks.
• In‑store temperatures range from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F or higher in some work areas.
• Sudden temperature changes in the work area and while outside.
• Fumes from food odors.
• Exposure to cornmeal dust.
• Cramped quarters, including the walk‑in cooler.
• Hot surfaces/tools from oven up to 500°F or higher.
• Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.

Physical Requirements

• Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position.
• Walking: Carrying bulk product deliveries, walking distances within the store.
• Lifting: Bulk product deliveries up to 50 pounds, cases up to 3' x 1.5', and items up to 72 inches high.
• Carrying: Large cans weighing a few pounds and pizza sauce up to 30 pounds.
• Pushing: Moving trays on dollies or pulling trays.
• Climbing: Infrequent navigation of stairs or ladders for maintenance.
• Forward bending at the waist at the pizza assembly station and front counter.
• Crouching/squatting occasionally to stock shelves and clean low areas.
• Reaching: Continuous up, down and forward reaching.
• Hand tasks: Continuous eye‑hand coordination and frequent use of forearms and wrists.
