Job Description

Assistant Maintenance Mechanic Job Goal: To help maintain district physical plants and facilities in a safe, efficient, and professional manner so as to enhance the learning environment of students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated aptitude and willingness for general maintenance duties.
• Alaska State Water Treatment Operator in Training (OIT) where applicable. New hires and current employees must pass the examination within 3 consecutive test dates after being offered the training.
• Willingness to travel to remote locations.
• Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.

Duties

• Performs semiskilled building maintenance tasks in craft areas as assigned.
• Works as assistant to a skilled maintenance mechanic.
• Works as a maintenance mechanic trainee.
• Performs duties with the highest standards of safety for personnel, students, and facilities.
• Responsible for reporting general building maintenance and equipment malfunction and repair needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
