Job summary

First Student in Zachary, LA is seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager to support daily operations and ensure on-time, safe student transportation.

This role reports to the Contractual Manager and requires 3–5 years in transportation plus 2–3 years in a supervisory position, with Microsoft Office proficiency and basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years in transportation industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure home to school routes are covered on time and efficiently.
• Interface with drivers regarding concerns and performance issues.

• Ensure achievement of on-time performance goals.
• Monitor driver safety and identify safety issues.
• Assist Contractual Manager with review and resolution of union grievances; coordinate staffing for on-time coverage.
• Audit and correct athletic trip invoices per company guidelines.

Now Hiring: Transportation Assistant Manager Pay Rate: $65,000.00 USD Per Year Location: Zachary, LA

The Assistant Transportation Manager is responsible for assisting the Contractual Manager in supervising daily operations, monitoring performance, identifying safety issues, and resolving conflicts.

Major Responsibilities

• Ensures home to school routes are covered in a timely and efficient manner
• Interfaces with drivers regarding concerns and performance issues
• Investigates client complaints and coordinates resolutions
• Ensures achievement of on time performance goals
• Monitors driver safety and makes Injury Prevention (IP) contacts with drivers to identify and resolve safety issues
• Assist Contractual Manager with review and resolution of union grievancesEnsures dispatch staff assigns spare drivers and buses as required to provide on-time coverage of routes
• Audits and corrects athletic trip invoices based on company guideline

Qualifications/ Skills Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years experience in transportation
• 2-3 years supervisory experience
• Computer literacy skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Familiar with basic vehicle mechanic processes and maintenance
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Work extended hours regularly, including weekends
• Possess working vehicle to travel within service area as needed

Language Requirement

This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.
