Job Summary:

The assistant LMS administrator will support the management and operation of the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure a seamless and effective learning experience. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the functionality and user experience of the LMS. The assistant LMS administrator handles technical tasks such as publisher troubleshooting and managing the Respondus LockDown Browser. The position would assist with tier one and tier two support freeing up the LMS Administrator and the eLearning technologist to focus on higher-level LMS management and learning design support.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and division needs. May require occasional travel to other campuses to support program needs.

Reports to: LMS Administrator

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution or Associate’s degree ORcompleted an associate's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institutionwithtwo years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position OR applicable certification/training and four years of experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in web page design and/or software training
  • Experience in teaching at secondary/college level or training experience in adult education
  • Experience with vendor platforms
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the LMS, ensuring its optimal performance and accessibility to users.
  • Support the implementation of new features and updates, coordinating with IT and learning design teams to enhance system capabilities.
  • Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate course content and resources into the LMS, ensuring alignment with educational goals and standards.
  • Assess faculty needs to determine availability and appropriate resources and services.
  • Collaborate with vendors, ITSS, and CCCS IT to ensure tool reliability and security.
  • Manage and troubleshoot LMS-integrated tools and third-party applications.
  • Provides intermediate LMS and general academic and instructional technology support.
  • Participates in and supports collaborative, cross-departmental teams to support faculty with technology issues and address requests for assistance
  • As college staff request new integrations with the LMS, assess if the vendor product being integrated with the LMS are accessible by reviewing the VPAT in conjunction with the LMS Administrator.

Depending on your employment category and full or part-time status, Pikes Peak State College offers 15 hours a month of annual leave and 10 hours a month of sick leave accrual. There are paid holidays and alternate paid holidays which allow the college to be closed Christmas Day through New Year's Day. Eligibility is defined by your employment FTE status.
