Job summary

Georgia Public Library Service seeks a Librarian Manager to assist the director in planning, organizing, managing, and administering the Dougherty County Library system. The role requires a Master’s in Library Science and at least three years of professional librarian experience, including library management.

Certification within six months as Librarian (Grade 5-B or higher) and a valid Georgia driver’s license for travel between branches are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• At least three years of professional librarian experience in progressively responsible roles.
• Library management experience is required; certification within six months as Librarian (Grade 5-B or higher).

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and terminating or recommending termination.
• Ensures all library branches are adequately staffed and operating properly.
• Provide supervisory guidance to all branch and department managers.
• Conduct monthly meetings with branch managers/department heads to ensure proper operations within departments and branches.
• Provide knowledge and training on updates to the Library ILS.
• Assist in budgeting and development of annual library staff development day.
• Assist in coordinating library expansion and testing of library ILS system.
• Respond to public questions and assist with information needs.
