Calendar: 185 days a year


Hours: Full-Time


Hourly Wage: $14.49 - 18.37/hr depending on experience - plus benefits which include Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Public Employees Retirement System


Purpose: The Assistant Manager will help oversee kitchen operations, food production, and product usage alongside the Kitchen Manager. The Assistant Manager will assume the responsibilities of closing the kitchen while providing consistent guidance to all child nutrition personnel.


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • One or more years of either food service or management experience

  • Completion of approved Idaho Department of Health & Welfare food safety training course for supervisor/manager preferred

  • Ability to utilize and independently navigate computer programs


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Participates in child nutrition operations securing that meals are prepared and served accordingly, and operates within all Local, State, and Federal regulations.

  • Consistently positively directs employees.

  • Perform end-of-day responsibilities; account for meals served, software end-of-day procedures, walkthroughs for cleanliness, checking FIFO methods of product usage, rotating inventory, turning off all equipment, etc.

  • Organized work ethic specifically around inventory and daily usage. Reports discrepancies to the Manager.

  • Oversees that all products are labeled and dated once received and after each use.

  • May be required to oversee or prepare food preparation for extended kitchens.



  • Proactively participates in any food service position: baking, preparing, serving, cashiering, washing dishes, and cleaning equipment.

  • Capable of assuming kitchen responsibilities and working computer software for situations requiring: an absent manager.

  • Ensures that all food and supplies received into the school are checked against the invoice/transfer for accuracy and signed only after each order has been verified completely.

  • Reports any errors in the delivery, such as product shortages, and unsatisfactory food quality to the Kitchen Manager immediately.

  • Logical in decision making.

  • Capable of evaluating supervisors and other personnel capabilities.

  • Maintains integrity by following established procedures and instructions.

  • Sustain student, school, staff, and parental confidentiality.

  • Attends and implements professional development in the kitchen.

  • Participates in daily debriefs with managers.

  • Know and follow district policy and chain of command.

  • Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


Physical Abilities:


  • Ability to lift or move up to 50lb.

  • Sustained long periods of standing;

  • Endured repetitive motions such as but not limited to kneeling, bending, pushing, reaching, grasping hand/wrist/arm movement.

  • Sufficient visual perception: recognizing personnel performance, optimizing kitchen function, and applying appropriate solutions.

  • Withstand a wide range of temperatures; work in refrigerated areas

  • Clarity of communication: articulating kitchen needs, following directions, and providing personnel with written or verbal instructions.

  • Operating kitchen equipment, ensuring equipment is properly cared for and utilized by all kitchen personnel.
