Job summary

True Friends in Eden Prairie, MN seeks an Assistant Kitchen Manager to lead daily food preparation, supervise staff, and uphold food quality and safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily food preparation and meal service while ensuring quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Supervise and support kitchen staff during daily operations.
  • Serve as the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Person in Charge as assigned.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, coordinate with vendors, and submit invoices.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Submit maintenance requests for kitchen equipment and facilities as needed.
  • Prepare meals that accommodate special dietary needs following established guidelines.
  • Teach and oversee recipes, food production, and menu execution.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding kitchen staff.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance support to employees.
  • Assist with menu planning and development.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role

As an Assistant Kitchen Manager, you'll support the daily operations of the kitchen by leading food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring exceptional food quality and safety. You'll play a key role in maintaining an efficient kitchen, supporting employee development, managing inventory, and serving as the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Person in Charge when needed.

Schedule: Part-time; schedule varies based on business needs and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Work Environment: On-site in a fast-paced commercial kitchen with indoor and outdoor work environments
Location: Camp Eden Wood – Eden Prairie, MN
Pay: $19.96/hour

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Regularly operate commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, flat-top grills, dishwashers, walk-in coolers, and freezers
  • Fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent interaction with staff and guests
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move throughout the workday
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in person
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
