Job summary

The Branson School in Ross, CA is seeking an Assistant Junior Varsity Baseball Coach to lead and mentor student athletes in a part-time seasonal role. You will work under the Director of Athletics and Head JV Coach to develop skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork through structured practices and games.

Responsibilities include planning practices, coordinating schedules, ensuring safety, and maintaining equipment while upholding Branson’s values. Evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred).
• One to two years of high school or collegiate coaching experience (preferred).
• CPR certification through American Red Cross.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to transport student athletes.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Experience working with diverse groups and maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to make decisions and handle conflicts; problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the Junior Varsity Baseball program under the leadership of the Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.
• Ensure Branson and League policies, rules and regulations regarding athletic activities and athletes are followed.
• Plan and organize practices and games schedules with the Athletic Department.
• Maintain a safe environment for student athletes at all times.
• Develop an appropriate training program and practice schedules.
• Communicate regularly with team parents regarding overall team operations.
• Ensure regular supervision of student athletes at home and away games and appropriate behavior.
• Ensure athletes adhere to training rules, class and grade requirements, and rules of behavior on the court, in conditioning, and in the locker room.
• Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials; resolve conflicts professionally.
• Represent Branson in all interactions with the community at large.
• Maintain proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms; advise on purchases and inventory.
• Maintain necessary records and Paycom timecard submissions.
• Keep required certifications and training hours up to date.
• Attend work regularly and be punctual at practices and games.
• Obtain advance approval for team expenditures from Athletic Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Description

The Assistant Junior Varsity Baseball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics, under the supervision of the Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach. This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. This position requires travel and work in the evenings and weekends.

Functions & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the Junior Varsity Baseball program, under the leadership of the Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.

• Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials. Resolves all conflicts in a professional manner.
• Professionally represents Branson in all interactions with the community at large.
• Along with the Head Coach, ensures the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
• Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Also manages inventory.
• Maintains necessary records and completes their Paycom timecard within the specified timeframes and manner.
• Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
• Attends work regularly and is punctual to all practices and games.
• Obtain advance approval for the Athletic Director for all team-related expenditures.
• Manages other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, and would be expected to drive student athletes to off-campus trainings and games.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Must be able to assist with athletes of various weights and heights.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills and be able to walk long distances.
• Must be able to carry training kit and coolers for long distances.
• Use strength to lift items, raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
• Must be able to bend at hips and knees.
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
