Job Overview

Assistant Installation Manager – Empire Today is seeking a professional to manage installation projects for in‑home and business‑to‑business flooring sales. The role involves allocating product, supplies, and contractor resources, directing installation crews, setting customer expectations, and ensuring project success through analysis and adjustments.

Compensation

$58,000 annually plus bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Locate, evaluate, and onboard independent installer talent to meet customer demand for soft and hard surface skillsets.
  • Liaise between managers, customers, and employees.
  • Regularly evaluate customer satisfaction of subcontractors’ installation work product and make recommendations for continued allocation of opportunities.
  • Foster a strong working relationship with installation contractors, focusing on feedback, coaching, and continuous improvement.
  • Audit every project to ensure materials are available and the scope of work matches the sales contract.
  • Direct subcontractor allocation to customer projects based on licensure, qualifications, and geographic location using Empire systems.
  • Attend Pre‑loadout meetings and report on status, activities, and opportunities each morning.
  • Ensure timely loadout of installation subcontractors through process management.
  • Collaborate with customers, installer subcontractors, customer service, and management to resolve installation‑related complaints.
  • Manage loadout operations for carpet and/or hard surfaces, targeting fifteen minutes per installer subcontractor.
  • Attend Post‑loadout meetings to report status of allocations and collaborate with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Engage with installation contractors at job sites to resolve customer issues, troubleshoot technical questions, and address change orders.
  • Approve or decline subcontractor change order requests promptly.
  • Manage the scope and monetary impact of change orders with customers, securing payment for added installation scope, updating paperwork, and facilitating payment processing.
  • Perform weekly job‑site visits to evaluate subcontractor qualifications and opportunities, or projects with customer complaints to assess recommended actions.
  • Coach installer subcontractors to ensure customer delivery expectations are met.
  • Set, adjust, and approve installer subcontractor labor pay additional charges for scope changes on‑site.
  • Handle installer subcontractor complaints and grievances promptly.
  • Control the flow and distribution of materials and supplies to customer jobs, ensuring appropriate return and accounting in Empire’s inventory systems.
  • Ensure safety and security of employees, subcontractors, and Empire property during loadout.
  • Monitor policy and safety compliance during loadout.
  • Assist with other market initiatives under the direction of the General Manager.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong computer system skills, including Microsoft applications and order management software.
  • Proficient in the fundamentals of carpet and flooring installations.
  • Working knowledge of home improvement codes, permitting, and licensing requirements (preferred).
  • Experience with material take‑offs, additions, and estimating competency (preferred).
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
  • Team player who supports positive subcontractor rapport.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (preferred).
