The Goddard School of Powhatan, VA is seeking an Assistant Infant Teacher who will support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and managing the classroom in a safe, stimulating environment.

You will contribute to children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, while preparing materials and communicating with families to share progress and daily activities. This role offers a nurturing, collaborative team culture and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; at least 6 months' experience with young children.
• Experience in licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
• Demonstrates empathy and compassion for young children.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child's progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.

Assistant Teacher Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required;
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting 6 months experience minimum
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
