Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms is seeking an HR leader to guide staffing, employee relations, and benefits administration across the plant and related locations. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution to ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable laws.

You will drive recruitment, develop talent, and mentor teams while overseeing wage and benefits programs to support competitive compensation and organizational growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years' progressive human resources experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence and conflict resolution.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written; multilingual ability preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Experience with HR systems, preferably Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to the HR team to ensure HR initiatives (staffing, regulatory processes, employee relations, organization development, etc.) are implemented and maintained in support of company objectives
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and front line personnel on conflict resolution to ensure disputes are handled fairly and in compliance with all laws
  • Drive recruitment, selection, and succession planning strategies for internal customers
  • Manage salaried recruiting process including sourcing and screening qualified candidates to ensure candidates are aware of duties and environment; schedule and participate in interviews with leadership
  • Initiate job offers for successful candidates ensuring HR-generated letters are signed and uploaded into Workday at hire
  • Provide HR-related training addressing performance counseling and employee relations issues; counsel managers on performance management and documentation
  • Attend or conduct corrective action sessions and follow-up as necessary
  • Lead initiatives around engagement, diversity, talent management, training and change management
  • Mentor and train/cross-train employees, providing feedback on strengths and areas for improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to streamline operations and improve efficiency
  • Understand and ensure compliance with union negotiated agreements and address grievances as needed
  • Follow and promote safety initiatives and PPE usage to maintain a zero-accident culture
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Primarily responsible for providing guidance to the plant and associated complex locations on staffing, employee relations, training, development, and salary and benefits administration. This role operates at both the strategic and "hands-on" level, to oversee the day-to-day Human Resource operations to ensure compliance with company, regulatory and Federal, State and local legal requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
  • Provide direction to the HR team to ensure HR initiatives (i.e. staffing, regulatory processes, employee relations, organization development, etc.) are implemented and maintained in support of company objectives
  • Provide coaching and guidance to both leaders and front line personnel on conflict resolution to ensure disputes are handled fairly and in compliance with all company guidelines and Federal, State and local laws and regulations
  • Drive recruitment, selection, and succession planning strategies for internal customers
  • Manage salaried recruiting process including sourcing and screening qualified candidates to ensure candidates are aware of duties, environment, etc., schedule and participate in interviews with appropriate leadership and recommend best candidate for opening
  • Initiate job offers for successful candidate ensuring HCM generated letter is electronically signed or manual letter is signed and uploaded into Workday at time of hire
  • Provide human resources-related training addressing areas such as performance counseling and employee relations issues C887068ounsel and guide managers on appropriate performance management measures and assist managers in writing corrective action memos and other documentation
  • attend or conduct corrective action sessions and follow-up as necessary
  • Lead functional/business initiatives around engagement, diversity, talent management, training, and change management, partnering with internal departments to implement and sustain initiatives
  • Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Understand and ensure compliance with union negotiated agreements and research employee complaints and grievances if applicable, taking appropriate action for resolution as required
  • Follow and promote all safety initiatives, (i.e. wear appropriate PPE in areas where mandatory) helping to maintain a zero accident culture
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise a team of exempt and non-exempt administrative personnel
  • This role is a Leader of People role with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors' degree in Business, Human Resources or other related field from an accredited institution
  • Combination of education and experience may substitute for degree
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP preferred
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Minimum five (5) years' progressive human resources experience; preferred experience
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner; ability to communicate in multiple languages preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work effectively with others, possessing tact and discretion and demonstrate a high level of confidentiality in all matters
  • Must have strong computer skills: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, to format reports, presentations, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.; experience within HCM system such as Workday preferred
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Follow and ensure others follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work non-standard hours (holidays, weekends or extended shifts) when needed
  • Frequently sits for long periods of time utilizing office equipment and/or computers
  • Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds
