Job summary

Applitrack is seeking an Assistant High School Track and Field Coach to support the Head Coach and Athletic Director in developing student-athletes’ skills, conditioning, and competition readiness. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and character-building in alignment with school guidelines.

The position requires prior coaching or playing experience in Track & Field, classroom and field supervision duties, and ongoing commitment to CHSAA regulations and school policies.

Qualifications

  • Past coaching and/or playing experience in Track & Field.
  • Knowledge of track & field techniques and strategies; willingness to learn under Head Coach.
  • Able to model sportsmanship and positive behavior for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Follow CHSAA regulations and school rules; implement coaching plans.
  • Supervise and supervise athletes during practices and events.
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and safety, including locker rooms and training areas.
  • Report to Head Coach and Athletic Director as required.

  • To instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical trainingnecessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success, while at the same time, to instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to sociallyacceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride ofaccomplishment in the student-athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skillsthrough coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Qualifications
  • Previous successful coaching and/or playingexperience in Track & Field
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sportand a willingness to learn and adapt at the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student-athletes throughhis/her instructions and actions.
  • Meet all background and certification requirements of the District and CHSAA.
General
  • The success of athletic programs strongly influences the community'simage of the entire system. Public exposure is a considerableresponsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance istaxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and goodmental health.
  • The position includes other unusual aspects such as extended time, risk injuryfactors, etc.
  • A coachshall exercise common sense and good judgment at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understands all team and FHS rules & regulations, CHSAAregulations; Interprets & implements consistently
  • Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances throughproper channels. Is aware of allmeetings that require attendance.
  • Understands the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the Head Coach
  • Supervises teams andplayers at the direction of the Head Coach
  • Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  • Assists with accountability for equipment and facilities, including but not limited toequipment rooms, training rooms, locker rooms,and coaches' offices.Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of thefacility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building.Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
  • Reports directly to the Head Coach and indirectly to the Athletic Director and FHS Principal
