SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director and Principal, the coach plans, organizes, and leads practice sessions, analyzes athlete strengths and weaknesses, develops strategies for competition, and mentors students to promote sportsmanship, discipline, and positive athletic experiences.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports to the Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Planning and leading structured practice sessions
  • Creating and implementing strategies to maximize team performance in competitions
  • Providing real‑time feedback and coaching during games
  • Maintaining accurate player and team records
  • Recruiting new athletes to strengthen the team
  • Mentoring players to develop discipline, teamwork, and respect for the sport
  • Encouraging and motivating athletes to continuously improve their skills
  • Maintaining equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and functional playing environment
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous experience playing or coaching the sport is preferred
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
  • Coaching permit for the designated sport through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board, or the ability to obtain one
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear; occasionally required to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; may need to lift or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and distance vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level can vary from moderate to quite loud depending on the activity in the sporting arena. The demands of this job are typical for a school environment.
