Job summary

University School of Nashville seeks an Assistant Head of School to partner with the Director in guiding curricular and co-curricular programs, staff development, and day-to-day operations across Kindergarten through 12th grade.

This newly configured role requires a strategic leader with expertise in diversity, equity, inclusion, and talent management, capable of building strong relationships with students, families, faculty, and the Board.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of a multidivisional school and experience leading in a large educational organization.
• Ability to articulate vision and strategy with clear communication to internal and external audiences.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, and supporting faculty in a diverse school environment.
• Track record transforming organizational practice and culture with data-driven change.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a collaborative thought partner to the Director and a member of the Leadership Team.
• Support and augment USN’s academic program across divisions and report structures.
• Provide leadership to Division Heads and oversee teaching, learning, and professional development.
• Coordinate with diversity and community life staff to foster inclusive learning environments.
• Support faculty recruitment, retention, and performance evaluation; strengthen workplace culture.
• Plan schoolwide professional development and engage with the Board of Trustees as needed.
• Represent the Director at internal and external meetings and committees.
