Job summary

The Little Gym of Scarborough ME is seeking an Assistant Gym Director to coach, lead, and help make our gym welcoming for kids and families. This role can be full-time or part-time and involves teaching classes as well as supporting daily operations.

You will work with the Gym Director to oversee shifts, train employees, and organize birthday parties and events, while keeping safety and a positive energy at the center of every class.

Love teaching kids and bringing out the best in a team? The Little Gym of Scarborough is looking for an Assistant Gym Director who’s ready to coach, lead, and help make our gym a welcoming place for kids and families!

This position can be full-time or part-time. Your number one job is teaching great classes. You’ll also work alongside our Gym Director to lead shifts, train employees, and take responsibility for programs such as birthday parties and special events.

Our coaches are the heart of The Little Gym and the reason so many kiddos can’t wait to come back each week. We teach age-appropriate gymnastics skills, celebrate kiddos for being kiddos, and create a place where children feel proud of themselves and parents feel at home. As Assistant Gym Director, you’ll help our team bring that same care, energy, and encouragement to every class.

What You’ll Do:

• Teach fun, engaging parent-child and recreational gymnastics classes
• Lead shifts and help instructors feel prepared, supported, and ready to teach
• Help train employees through hands‑on guidance and constructive feedback
• Coordinate birthday parties and special events, including planning, preparation, and staff support
• Assist the Gym Director with daily operations and team communication
• Build relationships with families
• Keep the gym safe, clean, organized, and welcoming

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You:

• Have experience teaching or coaching children
• Have experience leading shifts, training coworkers, or supporting a team
• Bring energy, patience, and a playful spirit to your classes
• Can give clear direction and helpful feedback while encouraging others
• Are organized, dependable, and follow through on responsibilities
• Take initiative and stay calm when a busy day needs a little extra coordination
• Are excited to learn The Little Gym’s curriculum and teaching approach
• Experience in gymnastics, children’s enrichment, education, recreation, or childcare is a plus!

The Schedule:

• Full-time or part-time
• Consistent weekly schedule with teaching and leadership responsibilities
• Weekend availability required
