Qualifications

• Class A PGA Member or currently enrolled in the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program and at Level 2 or beyond.
• Maintain good standing with the PGA throughout employment and progress toward completion if enrolled in the PGM Program.
• Experience providing golf instruction to players of varying skill levels in both individual and group settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough understanding of the Rules of Golf.
• Strong customer service and a professional, team-oriented attitude.
• A genuine passion for golf and a desire to build relationships with members and guests.

Responsibilities

• Provide private lessons, group clinics, and youth golf programs for players of varying abilities.
• Promote hospitality and goodwill among members, guests, and staff.
• Welcome and assist members and guests in the Golf Shop and throughout the Club.
• Anticipate and respond to the daily needs of members and guests.
• Participate in golf with the membership and foster strong member relationships.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the Club's operations, policies, and procedures.
• Assist with tournaments and event operations.
• Support Golf Shop merchandising and daily retail operations.

Overview

Purpoodock Club is now accepting resumes for the position of Assistant Golf Professional for the 2027 season.

The Club

Purpoodock Club is a private 18-hole club located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Founded in 1922, the Club currently has 330 voting memberships and 115 non-voting memberships, generating roughly 23,000 rounds annually.

The Position

Purpoodock Club is seeking an energetic and service-oriented Assistant Golf Professional to join our team for the 2027 season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for golf, enjoy working with members and guests, and be eager to grow as a PGA professional.

Experience Required

Minimum Qualifications

• Class A PGA Member or currently enrolled in the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program and at Level 2 or beyond.
• Ability to maintain good standing with the PGA throughout employment and, if enrolled in the PGM Program, demonstrate continued progress toward completion.
• Experience providing golf instruction to players of varying skill levels in both individual and group settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough understanding of the Rules of Golf.

Essential Responsibilities

Essential responsibilities will include golf instruction, tournament operations, youth golf programming, and merchandising. The successful candidate will be provided with the tools, experience, and support necessary to continue developing their career as a PGA Professional.

Responsibilities include

• Start and end dates can be flexible depending on the candidate.
• Provide private lessons, group clinics, and youth golf programs for players of varying abilities.
• Promote hospitality and goodwill among all members, guests, and fellow staff.
• Welcome and assist members and guests in the Golf Shop and throughout the Club.
• Anticipate and respond to the daily needs of members and guests.
• Participate in golf with the membership and help foster strong member relationships.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the Club's operations, policies, and procedures.
• Assist with tournaments and event operations.
• Support Golf Shop merchandising and daily retail operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf.
