Newton Country Club in Newton, NJ is seeking a full-time Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our high-performing team. This role offers growth under the current Superintendent and leadership in their absence on a private 18-hole course.

The candidate will support environmental stewardship, manage irrigation and turf programs, and aid in budgeting and staff development as we advance capital projects for 2027.

Qualifications

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field.
• Previous golf course maintenance experience required (assistant or second assistant level preferred).
• NJ Pesticide Applicator license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily planning and execution of all golf course maintenance activities.
• Supervise and lead staff in the Superintendent’s absence.
• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems as needed.
• Apply and document fertilizer and pesticide programs in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Operate and maintain a variety of turf equipment.
• Help manage course conditioning based on seasonal needs and weather conditions.
• Contribute to staff training, safety, and scheduling.
• Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control.

Newton Country Club is seeking a full-time, year-round Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our high-performing, tight-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated turf professional to grow under the guidance of our current Superintendent and take a leadership role in their absence.

Our club has completed a capital improvement project during a Spring 2026 mobilization, including bunker and tee box renovations. The Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in maintaining these assets while we look to other capital projects for 2027.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in daily planning and execution of all golf course maintenance activities
