Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an Assistant Girls Wrestling Coach for the 2026-2027 school year in Ohio County, WV. The role reports to the Head Coach and aims to develop student skills, discipline, and self-esteem within a competitive program.

The position follows the Ohio County Schools salary schedule based on degree and experience. Completion of a background check is required, along with WV teaching certificate or WV Coach Authorization.

Qualifications

• Appropriate valid West Virginia teaching certificate or WV Coach Authorization.
• Completion of a successful background check.
• Thorough knowledge of coaching principles and practices
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial arrangements
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations as they pertain to the area being coached and ability to deal effectively with co-workers, athletes and the public.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
• Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
• Coach's individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sports involved.
• Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
• Prepare eligibility list for all students in his or her program.
• Work closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
• Supervise the storage and care of equipment.
• Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmen like behavior. Establish and manage penalties for each breach of such standards by individual students.
• Evaluate each member of his or her staff in accordance with Ohio County Schools Policy. All evaluations shall be submitted to the Athletic Director two weeks after the close of the season.
• Complete a typewritten inventory of the equipment at the close of the sport season and a basic list of needs for the following year.
• Appoint an individual to call in all home scores to the news media.
• Attend, with assistance, all Booster Club meetings.
• Prepare a list of all letter and award winners and oversee the distribution of all such letters and awards.
• Observe and be responsible for all items that pertain to Regulation 4020.01.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
