Job summary

Union Gap School District is seeking a wrestling coach to implement and coordinate the wrestling program under the direction of the head coach and Athletic Director. You will lead practices, develop skills, and promote a positive team culture.

The role requires First Aid/CPR certification, strong communication, and the ability to work evenings and travel for competitions. Previous coaching or playing experience is preferred, and you will collaborate with other district coaches.

Qualifications

• Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a positive, supportive manner with participants, parents, coaches, and school administration and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to promote the self-esteem of youth.
• Demonstrate knowledge of coaching techniques in the areas of skill development, strategy and interpersonal team relations.
• Possess strong communication and organizational skills.
• Meet and maintain coaching standards as determined by the District and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).
• Previous playing or coaching experience is preferred.
• An ability to work as a responsible member of a coaching staff in full cooperation with other District coaches and the Athletic Director.

FUNCTION

Under the direction of the head coach, implement and coordinate aspects of the wrestling team for theUnion Gap School District athletic program.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

To carry out the objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Athletic Director and the head coach. To instruct participants in individual, group, and team techniques, tactics, and physical training necessary for the realization of success; to implement teaching and coaching philosophies consistent with the Union Gap School District mission statement, policies, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated ability to work in a positive, supportive manner with participants, parents, coaches, and school administration and staff.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Applicant will be the direct supervisor/coach of the wrestling team. The applicant will answer directly to the Athletic Director. The applicant must be willing to dedicate evenings for practice and games (including travel time).
