  • Assists in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
  • Assists the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self control.
  • Assists in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REPORTS TO:

Principal/Head Coach

Supervises:

Assigned students.

JOB GOAL:

To help students appreciate the values of discipline and sportsmanship.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE BASE

  • 1.1 Fundamentals of various sports.
  • 1.2 Health and safety regulations.
  • 1.3 Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

2.0 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • -2.1 Assist coaches on one or more sports.
  • -2.2 Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • -2.3 Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • -2.4 Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

3.0 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • -3.1 Assists in promoting sports in the school and community.
  • -3.2 Assists the head coach in planning the athletic program.
  • -3.3 Assists the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.
  • -3.4 Assists the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
  • -3.5 Assists the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self control.
  • -3.6 Assists in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
  • -3.7 Assists students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
  • -3.8 Conducts learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.
  • -3.9 Recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
  • -3.10 Performs related duties as assigned.
  • -3.11 Adheres to school board policies and administrative procedures.
  • -3.12 Adheres to the state Professional Code of Ethics.
  • -3.13 Demonstrates punctuality and good attendance for all duties.
