Job summary

The Assistant General Manager at THE ONE GROUP oversees daily operations and delivers the signature Vibe Dining experience. You will lead, educate, and mentor the team to ensure unforgettable guest experiences while achieving financial goals.

Expect to manage service standards, drive performance, collaborate with marketing, and develop a high-energy environment across all shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Two years of restaurant management experience or one year as a Benihana manager with good performance and results.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Proficiency in food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, personnel management, reportkeeping, and preparation of reports.
• MS Word and Excel proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Operations Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop managers and hourly staff to deliver exceptional guest service.
• Team Development & Staffing: Analyze staffing needs, recruit top talent, and onboard leadership and staff.
• Financial & Business Performance: Monitor sales forecasts, labor costs, and expenses to maximize profitability and ensure budget targets.
• Marketing & Guest Relations: Collaborate with marketing to develop promotions and build relationships with guests and VIPs.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving financial performance, and maintaining a high-energy environment that aligns with THE ONE GROUP’s signature Vibe Dining experience. This position involves leading, educating, and mentoring the team to ensure exceptional and unforgettable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations Leadership
  • Manage, lead, and mentor both managers and hourly staff to maintain exceptional guest service
  • Ensure service standards and high-energy guest experiences align with THE ONE GROUP’s brand identity
  • Oversee all business operations, including marketing strategies, risk management, and corporate mandates
  • Maintain daily reports and communicate key updates to the General Manager
• Team Development & Staffing
  • Analyze staffing needs and recruit top talent to build and maintain a high-performance team
  • Interview, hire, and onboard management and hourly staff
  • Coach and train the team to foster productivity, morale, and a collaborative work culture
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and ensure compliance with Performance Management guidelines
• Financial & Business Performance
  • Monitor sales forecasts, labor costs, and operational expenses to maximize profitability
  • Ensure compliance with budgeted revenues and operating cash flow (OCF) targets
  • Review and act on monthly P&L reports and any variances
  • Oversee the beverage program and collaborate with the Beverage Director to maintain quality and cost control
  • Drive sales through networking, marketing initiatives, and guest engagement
• Marketing & Guest Relations
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to develop new promotional ideas and initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with regular guests, VIPs, and industry influencers
  • Focus on guest engagement strategies to create a memorable dining experience

Experience and Education:

• Two (2) years of restaurant management experience or one year as a Benihana manager with good performance and positive results.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency in food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
• Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license where applicable.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must agree to background check.
• ServSafe certified alcohol service certified preferred.

Shift Flexibility:

Must be able to work different shifts, include holidays, nights and weekends. Typical work week = 50 + hours.
