Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking an Assistant General Manager to help direct and oversee the rendering facility in the absence of the General Manager. The role may oversee multiple operational areas to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years in midlevel management in industrial settings, strong communication and leadership skills, and a track record of improving productivity and cost control. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a midlevel management position in an industrial or manufacturing plant setting.
• Rendering industry experience a definite plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overall operation of the plant; assumes responsibility for major area of operation when necessary due to absence of General Manager.
• Assist in development of the annual budget.
• Assist in recruitment, selection, and orientation of new employees.
• Monitor and direct plant operations and lab analysis for quality control; ensure quality standards.
• Maintain liaison with customers; resolve customer issues or concerns.
• Monitor route efficiency and adjust as needed.
• Look for opportunities to increase productivity efficiently and economically.
• Process corporate invoices as directed by corporate office.
• Under GM direction, may obtain certifications (Bio-security, HACCP) and be primary contact for Safety Program.

The Assistant General Manager assists in the direction and management of a rendering facility with total charge of the operation in the absence of the General Manager. In addition, may be in direct charge of one or more areas of plant operations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist in overall operation of the plant; assumes responsibility for major area of operation when necessary due to absence of General Manager, Plant Manager, or Fleet Manager.
• Assists in the development of the annual budget.
• Assists in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new employee's development and discipline of established employees.
• Monitors and directs plant operations and lab analysis for quality control; takes necessary action to ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintains professional liaison with customers; resolves customer issues or concerns.
• Monitors route efficiency making adjustments when necessary.
• Looks for opportunities to increase productivity efficiently and economically.
• Process all corporate invoices and ensures payments have been authorized by the appropriate corporate office personnel.
• Under the direction of the General Manager, may be responsible for obtaining certifications necessary to the operation and implementation of such projects as Bio-security, HACCP, and is primary contact for the Company's Safety Program.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a midlevel management position in an industrial or manufacturing plant setting.
