Job summary

Wingstop is seeking a hands‑on Assistant General Manager to help lead a strong team, run successful shifts, and support overall restaurant performance. You will train and coach team members, manage scheduling and labor, monitor food quality and safety, and contribute to operational reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Shift Leads and Crew Members on a daily basis.
• Independently run successful shifts and ensure proper staffing and support.
• Maintain service standards, food quality, cleanliness, accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
• Assist with scheduling, labor management, attendance, and timekeeping.
• Support HR in interviewing candidates and providing feedback to the GM.
• Coach employees, address concerns, and escalate when needed.
• Oversee inventory, ordering, receiving, waste, and food cost control.
• Maintain food safety and workplace safety standards.
• Address guest concerns and safety issues, and prepare for inspections.

Job description

We are looking for a hands‑on Assistant General Manager who can help lead a strong team, run successful shifts, and support the overall performance of the restaurant.

The Assistant General Manager serves as the restaurant’s second-in-command and works closely with the General Manager to lead employees, maintain strong operational standards, and deliver a positive guest experience. This role is also an opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to take on broader restaurant leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Help lead, train, coach, and develop Shift Leads and Crew Members.
• Independently lead successful shifts and ensure employees are properly positioned, prepared, and supported.
• Maintain standards for service, food quality, cleanliness, order accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, labor management, attendance, and timekeeping.
• Participate in interviews of qualified candidates sourced and initially vetted by Human Resources and provide hiring feedback to the General Manager.
• Provide routine employee coaching and accountability and appropriately escape significant employee concerns.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, waste, food cost, cash controls, and operational reporting.
• Maintain company food-safety, workplace-safety, sanitation, and operational standards.
• Respond appropriately to guest concerns, employee injuries, safety concerns, and other restaurant-level issues.
• Help maintain restaurant readiness for health, safety, brand, and operational evaluations.
• Support the General Manager in improving restaurant performance and developing a dependable team.

Acting General Manager Responsibilities

When the General Manager is unavailable, the Assistant General Manager may temporarily oversee day‑to‑day restaurant operations. This includes leading the team, managing shifts, addressing immediate operational or safety concerns, and maintaining established restaurant procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous restaurant supervisory or management experience preferred; quick‑service restaurant experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to confidently lead employees in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.
• Experience with or willingness to learn scheduling, labor management, inventory, food cost, and restaurant operations.
• Ability to provide employees with clear direction and constructive feedback.
• Comfort using point‑of‑sale, scheduling, email, timekeeping, and reporting systems.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods as needed.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Assistant General Manager can independently lead strong shifts, maintain consistent operational and safety standards, develop employees, and recognize when an issue should be handled directly or escalated to the General Manager or appropriate support team.
