Job summary

Assumption University is seeking a position responsible for all aspects of instruction and management of a Division II Football program as part of the college experience. This role supports student-athletes’ liberal arts education and complies with NCAA, conference, and university policies.

The individual will assist in organizing practices, coordinating games, and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically, including recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University and its Catholic identity.
  • University coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, public relations, management and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Must maintain current certification in first aid, CPR, and AED use.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with all phases of the Division II Football program.
  • Complies with Assumption University, NE10 Conference, and NCAA policies.
  • Promotes an NCAA-compliant environment among coaches and student-athletes.
  • Assists Head Coach in organizing and evaluating practices, games, and conditioning.
  • Helps develop strategies to motivate student-athletes academically and athletically.
  • Assists in recruiting potential student-athletes.
  • Coordinates personal development and community service for student-athletes.
  • Weekends and nights work required.
  • Acts as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting and Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting.
  • Participates in PR activities and supports athletic communications, marketing, and fundraising.
  • Represents the sports programs in the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Head Football Coach.

Job description

This position is responsible for all aspects of instruction, along with the development and management of a comprehensive NCAA Division II Football program as a component of the college experience, which enhances and supports the students’ liberal arts education.

SCOPE:
  • Communicates regularly with students, parents, University personnel, high school coaches, NCAA, and Conference officials.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Assists with all phases of the Division II Football program.

2. Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures set forth by Assumption University, the NE10 Conference, and the NCAA.

3. Responsible for promoting and maintaining an atmosphere of NCAA compliance amongst coaches and student-athletes.

4. Assists the Head Coach in organizing, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating practice sessions, games, and conditioning programs. Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices.

5. Assists in developing and implementing strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at their best in the classroom and on playing surfaces.

6. Assists with identifying, evaluating, and recruiting potential student-athletes.

7. Assists in coordinating personal development initiatives and community service activities for all student-athletes.

8. Position requires working weekends and nights.

9. Serves as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting purposes and a Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting purposes.

10. Participates in public relations activities and works closely with the University's athletic communications, marketing, and fundraising programs. Attends athletic development/alumni functions, academic/athletic honors, and other special events as designated by the University.

11. Represents the sports programs in the community as appropriate.

12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach

Requirements

  • University coaching experience preferred
  • Strong communication and public relations, management, and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills in the areas of conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques;
  • Shall maintain current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships by working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s Degree /Master’s preferred.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and meet the qualifications of an Assumption University Driver.
