Job description

Meet Slingshot

At Slingshot Aerospace, we're on a mission to make space safer and more secure for everyone. Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We're a team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software.

We move fast, we're not afraid to fail, and we believe the best ideas can come from anywhere—whether you're in engineering, sales, product, or operations. If you want to work on something that truly matters, with people who care deeply about the impact we're making and help shape the future of an industry that’s just getting started, you're in the right place.

What You’ll Be Launching

As the Assistant Facility Security Officer, you will support the daily administration of Slingshot's industrial security program and help ensure our people, facilities, and classified programs operate securely and in compliance with applicable requirements. Reporting to the Manager, Industrial Security and Facility Security Officer, you will manage critical personnel security processes, maintain security records, support classified contracts and visits, and help keep the company prepared for inspections and assessments.

This role is ideal for an experienced industrial security professional who is organized, service-oriented, and comfortable balancing detailed operational work with independent judgment. You will also act on behalf of the Facility Security Officer when formally delegated and help improve the security processes that support Slingshot's growing classified portfolio.

We're building a team of sharp, creative people who love solving hard problems. We value curiosity over ego, initiative over waiting for permission, and people who genuinely care about doing great work. Bring your expertise, your fresh ideas, and your drive. We'll bring the rocket fuel.

Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it)
  • Support the Facility Security Officer in administering Slingshot's National Industrial Security Program and maintaining compliance with applicable government and customer requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day personnel security clearance processing and tracking for employees, candidates, consultants, and other covered personnel.
  • Submit, monitor, and maintain requests for investigations, reinvestigations, clearance actions, and access determinations.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee clearance eligibility, access status, investigation status, and adjudication activity.
  • Monitor clearance expirations, continuous vetting notifications, access requirements, and other personnel security actions requiring follow-up.
  • Verify personnel clearances and access eligibility before providing access to classified information, facilities, systems, meetings, or programs.
  • Conduct and document initial security briefings, annual refresher training, security debriefings, and other required security education.
  • Administer pre-travel and post-travel foreign travel acknowledgements and support required reporting for cleared employees.
  • Train employees on classified information handling, safeguarding requirements, reporting obligations, suspicious contact reporting, foreign influence considerations, and the consequences of security violations.
  • Maintain personnel security files, training records, briefing and debriefing records, foreign travel records, and other required personnel security documentation.
  • Support maintenance of the Facility Clearance and completion of continuing eligibility requirements.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of industrial security policies, procedures, forms, job aids, and training materials.
  • Review company processes and employee activities for alignment with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual and related security requirements.
  • Support inspection readiness by reviewing records, identifying gaps, coordinating corrective actions, and preparing documentation for government or customer review.
  • Assist during government inspections, customer audits, security assessments, and internal compliance reviews.
  • Prepare and process Visit Authorization Requests and maintain visit authorization records.
  • Coordinate classified visits, customer meetings, visitor access, and required security documentation.
  • Support the review, processing, and implementation of DD Form 254 requirements and related classified contract documentation.
  • Coordinate with government security representatives, customer security offices, and internal program teams as directed by the Facility Security Officer.
  • Respond to routine security inquiries and requests for information, escalating higher-risk or complex issues when appropriate.
  • Receive and document reports of security incidents, violations, suspicious activity, or other potentially reportable events.
  • Support investigations involving unauthorized disclosures, security breaches, lost or compromised information, and other security concerns.
  • Prepare incident documentation, maintain investigative records, and assist with required reports to government agencies and customers.
  • Track corrective actions and support timely remediation of identified findings.
  • Maintain incident reports, corrective action records, government correspondence, visit records, and other documentation required by contracts or regulations.
  • Recommend practical improvements to security processes, recordkeeping, training, and employee support.
  • Act on behalf of the Facility Security Officer when formally delegated and within the scope of assigned authority.
  • Partner with People, Information Technology, Facilities, Program Management, Engineering, and other teams to support secure and compliant operations.

  • Ability to handle sensitive, classified, proprietary, or personal information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently, recognize when escalation is required, and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in security management, criminal justice, business, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Bonus Cargo
  • Prior experience as an Assistant Facility Security Officer, Facility Security Officer, Personnel Security Specialist, or Industrial Security Specialist.
  • Completion of applicable Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency industrial security training.
  • Experience preparing Visit Authorization Requests or supporting DD Form 254 administration.
  • Experience supporting government inspections, customer assessments, or security audits.
  • Experience assisting with incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
  • Familiarity with insider threat, COMSEC, OPSEC, Controlled Unclassified Information, or classified information systems.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, aerospace, or space programs.
