DLA Careers in Whitehall, Ohio, is seeking a Fitness Facility Coordinator to assist the Fitness Facility Manager in daily operations and to supervise the second shift. Responsibilities include managing instructors and contracts, ensuring facility cleanliness, overseeing equipment inventory and maintenance, and guiding classes across all rooms.

Strong experience in sporting programs and certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Related work experience must be equivalent in difficulty to the next lower grade level.
  • Highly preferred certifications: ACE or NASM; Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Indoor Cycling, Fitness Boxing.
  • MWR experience and RECTRAC experience are beneficial.

This position is located at Defense Logistics Agency Columbus in Whitehall, Ohio.

Duties
Help
  • Serves as Fitness Facility Coodinator and assists in the daily operations/functions required to manage a fitness facility.
  • Assists the Fitness Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility. Leads and or supervises the operation during second shift of program operations and in the absence of the Fitness Manager.
  • Assists in the development and reviews specifications for instructors and other contracts.
  • Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures. Conducts classes and walks all facility rooms to provide guidance as appropriate.
  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Must complete the following courses/classes: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following
  • Possesses directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to carry-out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.
  • The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • Hold a current nationally recognized Fitness/Personal training certification such as ACE or NASM.
  • Hold any of the following certifications for teaching Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Indoor Cycling, Fitness Boxing.
  • Possess previous MWR experience.
  • Possess previous RECTRAC experience.

Experience must be reflected on resume to receive credit. Certification must be uploaded at time of application.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
