Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking an Assistant Facility Administrator to support the Facility Administrator in developing and implementing facility standards, policies, and guidelines. You will help supervise personnel and manage daily operations to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires extensive corrections experience, mid-management expertise, and strong leadership. The position involves on-site duties with nonstandard hours as needed to maintain facility security.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in corrections or related field with mid-management experience.
• Knowledge of ICE Performance Based National Detention Standards preferred.
• Knowledge of ACA Local Detention Standards preferred.
• Experience working with female detainees preferred.
• Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, and capable of commanding respect of inmates and staff.

Responsibilities

• Directs all department functions, activities, and supervision of personnel.
• Responsible for performance control activities of operations and safety sections.
• Ensures procedures, posts orders, staffing, training, equipment, and space for safety and security of staff, visitors, inmates, and facility.
• Directs recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, training, development, promotions and disciplinary actions.
• Prepares departmental progress reports and reviews activities toward goals.
• Monitors staff effectiveness and conducts facility inspections for policy compliance.
• Assists staff through conferences to analyze problems and improve skills.
• Contributes to community planning for inmate needs.
• Responds 24/7 to significant unusual occurrences.
• May act as facility administrator in absence.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary: The Assistant Facility Administrator assists the Facility Administrator in developing, supervising, and implementing standards, policies, and guidelines for the facility. Assists in overall administration of the facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Assistant Facility Administrator directs all department functions, activities, and supervision of personnel.
• Directly responsible for performance control activities of the operations and safety sections.
• The Assistant Facility Administrator ensures adequate procedures, posts orders, staffs, staff training methods, equipment, and space are established in all operations of the security department to ensure safety and security of staff, visitors, inmates, and facility.
• Directs the work of other employees. This includes the selection, hiring, evaluating job performance, employee training/development, promoting and any disciplinary action, including termination.
• The Assistant Facility Administrator prepares departmental progress reports.
• Reviews activities and operations of the operations departments to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
• The Assistant Facility Administrator monitors staff effectiveness and conducts physical inspections of facility to assure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assists staff members through individual and group conferences in analyzing problems and in improving their skills.
• Assists in efforts to assure continuing, coordinated community planning for needs of inmates.
• Responds on a 24-hour, 7-day basis to significant unusual occurrences.
• Required to function as facility administrator in his/her absence.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED certification required. College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in corrections or related field with experience in the field of corrections at the level of mid-management required. Knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements for managing a secure correctional facility.
• Working knowledge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Performance Based National Detention Standards preferred.
• Working knowledge of ACA Local Detention Standards preferred.
• Experience working with female detainees preferred.
• Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, able to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff.
