Golden Alaska, LLC. is seeking a 1st Assistant Engineer for its at-sea mothership operations in Alaska Pollock fishing. This role involves monitoring engineering systems and coordinating vessel operations.
The position demands substantial at-sea experience and offers a challenging but rewarding environment aboard a processing ship. The role includes responsibilities in preventive maintenance, shipyard projects, and safety training.
Health insurance and a 401(k) plan are part of the employment package.
Golden Alaska Seafoods operates the MV Golden Alaska, a 305’ mothership seafood processor that operates in the Bering Sea pollock fishery and Pacific Whiting fishery off the US West Coast.
For most people, living and working aboard a processing ship is very different from any other situation you will likely encounter and brings challenges on a daily basis. At the height of A Season and B Season it takes the full efforts and resources of over 130 people to keep up with the steady supply of incoming fish and to maintain 24-hour production.
This means demanding, long hours for everyone, constant noise, cramped quarters with little or no privacy, fatigue, physical discomfort and boredom. Don’t come aboard the vessel with adventurous notions of life at sea. In reality, life at sea is often dull and uncomfortable. It certainly is not an experience for everyone.
Golden Alaska Seafoods, LLC. is seeking a 1st Assistant Engineer for our at-sea mothership sector fishing operations for Alaska Pollock and associated shipyard maintenance and repair.
The Engineering department, under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all vessel engineering systems and processes, diesel propulsion and electric generating systems, deck hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Refrigeration systems, and fuel and lubrication systems. In addition, the Engineering department works closely with all other departments, especially the Factory, in that Fishmeal plant maintenance, when needed, is assisted by the Engine Room Department.
