Assistant Engineer

Department: Water Resources/Flood & Drainage

Compensation: $31.75 - $39.50 / hour

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Assistant Engineer working as a Hydraulics/Hydrology Engineer in our Water Resources’ Flood and Drainage group. The position entails performing civil technical analyses, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, project scheduling, site inspections, storm drain design, and construction cost estimating. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in flood control, hydrology, hydraulics, and climate resilience, and is driven, quick with learning tools and technology, and has a great “can-do” attitude.

This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.

A day in the life as a Wood Rodgers' Assistant Engineer

• Performing as a member of an interdisciplinary modeling team managed by a Senior Level Project Engineer.
• Performing field investigations as part of a team to visually inspect, measure, photograph, and document storm drainage facilities.
• Preparing technical analyses for a wide array of projects in both the Private and Public sectors.
• Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analyses in various software.
• Preparing Technical Reports, Maps, and Presentations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and collaborate within a team setting.
• Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, and/or other H&H modeling programs is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Preferred proficiency in GIS and CAD software with solid working knowledge of their practical applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods.
• E.I.T certification and plan to obtain Professional Registration at earliest opportunity.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Interest in engagement in industry-related professional organizations.
• Ability to work in office at minimum 3 days per week.

Offers will be based on several factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location.
