Job summary

Newfields a Place for Nature & The Arts is seeking an Assistant Educator for Intergenerational & Community Programs. The role reports to the Director of Public Programs and offers a salary range of $50,000–$52,000 per year.

Opportunity Title: Assistant Educator, Intergenerational & Community Programs

Reports To: Director of Public Programs

Salary Range: $50,000-$52,000

Responsibilities
  • With the Director of Public Programs, design, coordinate, and implement engaging programs that reflect institutional priorities and deliver exceptional audience experiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, artists, and cultural partners.
  • Collaborate across Newfields to support successful planning, promotion, and delivery of programs.
  • Provide on-site leadership across museum galleries, gardens, and campus-wide spaces.
  • Manage program timelines, production needs, and cross-departmental coordination with AV, security, visitor experience, custodial, culinary, horticulture, and community partners. Ensure accurate and timely information is provided to Newfield's teams.
  • Draft contracts, travel requests, and purchasing requisitions adhering to Newfields policies and procedures.
  • Develop program copy, including marketing materials and interpretive resources.
  • Track attendance, audience feedback, and engagement data for evaluation and reporting.
  • Assist with budget tracking, documentation, and maintaining program records.
  • Use tools such as Canva or similar platforms to support graphic needs for program materials.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of intergenerational programming principles and community engagement best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to support programs through their full life cycle, from concepting through completion.
  • Exceptional judgment, time management, and discretion.
  • Ability to navigate both museum and garden/park environments.
  • Clear, effective communication with community partners, colleagues, and audiences.
  • Commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and equitable museum practices.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Education And/or Experience
  • Master's degree in Museum Education, Education, Community Arts, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience developing and implementing education or community programs in a museum setting.
  • Demonstrated track record of building collaborative relationships with diverse community partners.
