Job summary

Plano ISD is seeking a paraeducator to assist the ECSE Teacher at Beaty Early Childhood in planning and implementing learning activities, supporting developmentally appropriate practices, and contributing to portfolios.

You will help with daily planning, parent involvement, and may attend ARD meetings and health-plan tasks. Requires a high school diploma; pay grade 723; 183 work days; on-site in Plano, TX.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Knowledge of general office equipment is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist the ECSE Teacher in planning and implementing learning activities.
• Assess student learning using developmentally appropriate methods; maintain records.
• Create a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Engage parents as volunteers and partners in teaching.
• Maintain data for each child and classroom discipline and management.
• Assist with self-care tasks and daily living skills for children.
• Support health plan tasks and health personnel training as needed.
• Participate in ARD meetings and home visits when required.
• Assist with applications, registration, and daily planning sessions.
• Support evening parent training meetings and follow district policies.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Assist the ECSE Teacher in

• Implementing the learning experiences of the identified children
• Assessing and evaluating student learning through developmentally appropriate practices; anecdotal record entries/IEP records and portfolio samples
• Providing a learning environment that is developmentally appropriate
• Involving parents as volunteers and as partners in the teaching process
• Maintaining updated data for each child
• Maintaining discipline and management of the classroom
• Assist children in performing self-care tasks and in daily living skills
• Assist with special education housekeeping chores
• Implement tasks as outlined in a health plan given with training from health personnel
• Participate in ARD meetings and home visits as needed for specific students
• Assist with application and registration
• Participate in daily planning sessions with the ECSE teacher
• Assist with evening parent training meetings
• Follow all rules, regulations and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
• Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
• Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor
