Job summary

The Randall County District Attorney’s Office has an opening for an Assistant District Attorney assigned to Child Protective Services cases. The position requires a strong dedication to children and families and the ability to work with DFPS, other prosecutors, and family law attorneys.

We are seeking an attorney who will contribute to the office’s teamwork, uphold the highest ethical standards, and support colleagues while advancing justice, integrity, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• No felony/criminal history.

Responsibilities

• Represent DFPS in cases assigned to the Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
• Advise DFPS caseworkers on appropriate legal actions concerning abused or neglected children.
• Evaluate, file, and prosecute DFPS cases from intake through trial.
• Prepare for and handle emergency removals, hearings, and termination of parental rights proceedings.
• Manage pleadings, orders, discovery, and DFPS at hearings and trials.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency removals.
• Uphold ethical standards; conduct legal research and stay current on statutes and case law.
• Manage assigned caseload in a timely and effective manner.
• Establish relationships with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, judges, coworkers, and private attorneys.

Education
