Job summary

The University of Arizona’s University Information Technology Services (UITS) invites applications for the Assistant Director, Systems Administration and Security. The role leads a team focused on enterprise servers, storage, backup, patching, and monitoring, prioritizing security and cloud services to support research and campus operations.

The position is hybrid, based at the Tucson Main Campus with on-site work three days per week, and requires strong leadership, collaboration with campus IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 7+ years in IT with 3+ years in management.
• Experience leading enterprise server and security teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for enterprise server architecture, maintenance, and security.
• Oversee design and operations of servers, storage, backup, patching, and monitoring.
• Drive strategy through weekly team meetings and staff development.
• Define infrastructure architecture aligned with university plans.
• Manage enterprise projects, timelines, and deliverables.
• Provide weekly progress updates with reporting and analytics.
• Serve as escalation point between Infrastructure Services and IT teams.
• Build relationships to develop enterprise solutions across campus.
• Advance adoption of UITS Managed Cloud Services with clear progress metrics.
