Northeastern Illinois University is seeking an Assistant Director for Student Counseling Services. This key role involves administrative, supervisory, and clinical duties to support the effective operation of counseling services, including leadership in training and clinical standards.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a college counseling environment, clinical supervision, and crisis management. Competitive salary between $85,000 - $95,000 with a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
The Assistant Director (AD) is a key member of the Student Counseling Services (SCS) management team, providing administrative, supervisory, and clinical services to assist in the effective operation of NEIU’s Student Counseling Services. The Assistant Director reports to the Director and has leadership responsibilities in the areas of clinical services and training. The AD supervises post-doctoral and pre-doctoral trainees, helps design and evaluate clinical services for the center, and directs Student Counseling Services in the absence of the Director. Administrative duties include management of the Counseling Services’ training program, using data-informed decision making to inform service needs and outcomes; attention to clinical service demand management; and onboarding new staff and trainees. Clinical duties include the provision of psychological services directly to NEIU students, consultation to faculty and staff, and provision of crisis intervention. Other significant activities involve working with the director and center staff on emerging issues facing the unit.
Establish, monitor, and evaluate clinical service delivery standards to ensure care reflects evidence-based practice, cultural responsiveness, and contemporary college mental health models.
