Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking an Assistant Director for the Student-Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO) within Undergraduate Education. This role leads a team and coordinates academic success initiatives for student-athletes.

The position requires a Bachelor's and preferably a Master’s, with several years of experience in student services, NCAA familiarity, and supervisory duties. Expect a 40-hour work week in a campus setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Five (5) years experience required.
• Experience with postsecondary students.
• Master's degree.
• Eight to twelve (8-12) years of relevant experience preferred.
• Familiarity with NCAA, Big Ten Conference and OSU rules and regulations.
• Supervisory experience.
• experience advising/tutoring/mentoring collegiate student-athletes or previous experience teaching at the collegiate.
• Experience developing and motivating students for athletic and academic success.

Responsibilities

• Manages learning and instruction around academic success strategies for underprepared/underrepresented student-athletes.
• Identifies student-athletes skill set for college level work.
• Designs and implements strategic instructional plans for student-athletes under-prepared for college.
• Engages in small groups and individuals in implementation of instructional plans.
• Analyzes effectiveness of program and recommends improvements; directs implementations and coordinates new strategies.
• Develops and implements learning interventions and study strategies (time management, critical thinking, reading/writing, note-taking, test-taking).
• Meets students developmentally, recognizing individual needs with problem-solving focus.
• Collaborates with educational services to create programming for exam prep and trainings for tutors and SASSO initiatives.
