Job summary

The New School in New York City seeks an Assistant Director of Research & Instructional Services to lead the Research Unit, oversee assessment, and advance scholarly communication.

Reporting to the Director of RIS, you will collaborate with faculty, library colleagues, and academic programs to enhance teaching, research, and access to library services across campus.

This is a full‑time, in‑person role based on campus with opportunities to shape strategic projects in a dynamic university.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited MLS and a relevant bachelor's degree required.
• 3+ years in an academic library environment; supervisory experience.
• Strong research data management, statistics, open publishing expertise.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication; ability to lead change.

Responsibilities

• Lead Research Unit and supervise librarians.
• Develop assessment strategies and analytics.
• Coordinate in-person and virtual research/instructional services.
• Collaborate with faculty and programs on scholarly communication.
