  • Work history of proficiency in written and oral communication.

  • Work with the Associate Director on new scholarship budgets.
  • Monitor federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding scholarship funding.
  • Examine processes for improving access and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in collaborating with the Departmental Scholarship Administrators working group and provide training.
  • Serve as a campus contact to departments in select colleges.
  • Collaborate to develop technological solutions to streamline processes.
  • Distribute University allocation budget notices to each awarding entity.
  • Create a centralized presence for campus and college-based scholarships and a robust information site.
  • Collaborate with the Dean's Office, University Advancement, Admissions, and Financial Aid to market scholarship programs.
  • Assist with selection of incoming scholars and guide selection committees.

Position Summary Information

The Assistant Director of University Scholarships assists with the awarding, and communicating all merit and need-based university scholarships. This position reports to the Associate Director of University Scholarships and collaborates with the other team members to manage the awarding, communicating, and reporting on all university scholarships.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • One year of general administrative experience involving public contact in a higher education setting.
  • Experience using database software such as Banner, Scholarship Universe, or similar systems.
  • Work history of proficiency in written and oral communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Two years' experience with Banner or an admissions CRM.
  • Budgetary fiscal management experience.
  • Work history of proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Experience working with higher-ed database software such as Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar systems.
  • A highly organized individual who is able to multitask and who is detail-oriented.
  • Work experience showing strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and enhance collaborative relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Associate Director of Scholarships with managing institutionally funded scholarship funds.
  • Works with the Associate Director of University Scholarships on new scholarship budgets.
  • Monitors federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding scholarship funding.
  • Examine processes for ways to improve access to students and ensure we are compliant with any and all regulations.
  • Assist the Associate Director in collaborating with the Departmental Scholarship Administrators (DSA) working group for all fund administrators and provide continual training to the group.
  • Serve as a campus contact to departments in select colleges.
  • Collaborate to develop technological solutions to streamline business processes.
  • Distribute University allocation budget notices to each awarding entity.
  • Create a centralized and coordinated presence for campus and college-based scholarships to increase awareness of scholarship opportunities, including a robust website for scholarship information.
  • Collaborate with the Dean's office in assigned academic colleges, University Advancement (particularly donor services), the Office of Admissions, the Office of Student Financial Aid, and the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Admissions and the Sr. Assistant Director of Communications in Financial Aid to market scholarship programs to eligible students.
  • Assist the Associate Director in overseeing the selection of the incoming scholars by managing the review process and serving as a guide for the selection committees.
  • Support and ensure that University Scholarships follows the vision, goals, and plan of the Institution, and Office of Student Financial Aid and University Scholarships.
  • Market opportunities to students, faculty, and staff while serving as a contact point for external partners.
  • Help others understand the purpose and need of these scholarships.
  • Assist with the scholarship database Scholarship Universe, the application review and selection process for first-year and continuing-student scholarships.
  • Provide reports, analyze application data, and outline scholarship trends to the Associate Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
