Position Title Assistant Director of Respiratory Therapy - Operations Days - Full Time Miller

Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Respiratory Therapy Assistant Director assumes responsibility for leadership and executing the strategic direction of the department using Lean-style problem/resolution. This role requires exceptional leadership and management skills, as well as strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all members of the organization.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Provides effective leadership to the department.
• Serves as a resource and technical expert to staff, physicians, and other health care personnel.
• Effectively represents the department in committees and workgroups.
• As an administrative leader, directs the activities of staff, and intervenes to provide guidance and instruction for employees.
• Coordinates management responsibilities.
• Identifies opportunities for new or enhanced services to support the mission of the organization.
• Leads organizational and departmental performance improvement efforts to strengthen existing systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
• Serves as an ambassador of the organization and department visions.
• Effectively communicates the department’s role in achieving those goals.
• Demonstrates excellence in personnel management by identifying strengths of team members and assisting employees in leveraging those strengths in their work.
• Maintains a plan for continued growth.
• Manages the operational budget and appropriately authorizes and monitors departmental funds.
• Applies the appropriate financial concepts and tools to analyze situations and make financial decisions that support the achievement of short and longer-term departmental objectives.
• Manages effective staffing solutions and facilitates future-minded supplies, and equipment.
• Responsible for navigating recalls.
• Helps develop and execute policies, protocols, and procedures to enhance patient care and promotion of the respiratory care profession.
• Assures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, CMS, and The Joint Commission standards.
• Manages electronic health record enhancements and maintains downtime forms.
• Responsible for serving as the IT liaison for all electronic systems.
• Fulfills call duties, as assigned.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

• Master's Degree in Respiratory Care or related field
• Bachelors Degree
• High School Graduate 3 or more years relevant supervisory experience

Preferred Education and Experience

• 3 or more years relevant clinical experience
• Experience in clinical instruction of students

Required Licensure and Certification

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 1 Year
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT) - State Board of Healing Arts

Preferred Licensure and Certification

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)

Knowledge Requirements

• Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)
