Winston-Salem State University is seeking an Assistant Director of Academic Initiatives, Curriculum, and Assessment within Housing and Residence Life. The role leads the residential curriculum, oversees assessment, and supervises staff to support student learning, engagement, and retention.

The position collaborates with Academic Affairs and campus partners to advance student success and to foster Living‑Learning Communities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Information Systems, Higher Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in university housing or student affairs.
• Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and applying student development theory in residence halls.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate complex data to varied audiences.
• Training or experience in program assessment, data interpretation, and using assessment results to inform practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage Area Coordinator caseloads through Maxient Student Conduct software.
• Cooperate with the Office of Student Rights, Responsibilities & Conduct on all departmental student conduct matters.
• Train staff on processes and procedures involving student conduct matters.
• Assist with the development and implementation of the Residential Curriculum and Curricular Approaches.
• Coordinate intervention steps with academically at-risk students.
• Coordinate the overall direction and evaluation of departmental efforts designed to encourage residential students to remain engaged on campus.
• Assist in the coordination of comprehensive and developmental educational opportunities.
• Coordinate and manage all departmental assessment efforts including pre/post‑tests, surveys, and data interpretation.
