Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director (FGP), Revenue Optimization and Analytics-Radiology.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and monitor the NYU Grossman School of Medicine Faculty Group Practice (NYU FGP) professional billing functions, including charge capture, coding, accounts receivable management, denial management, training, and reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate the overall functions of the revenue cycle management team to monitor cash flow while improving patient, physician and other customer relations.
  • Facilitate and direct an optimal patient experience related to billing and collections.
  • Establish a positive/collaborative relationship with the growing network of physician practices and ensure smooth, on-schedule practice/provider transitions.
  • Provide detailed reporting to practices, FGP, and CBO leadership demonstrating the effectiveness of revenue cycle work.
  • Direct and review analyses, reports, key performance indicators, and operational metrics.
  • Assist with ongoing management of EPIC as it relates to professional billing and with the development of strategic plans for continued improvement.
  • Ensure activities of the professional billing teams comply with department protocols, FGP policies and procedures, and all applicable regulations and payer requirements.
  • Participate in corrective actions in response to variances and trends and meet internal standards for accuracy and timeliness in documentation preparation and submission.
  • Provide, oversee, and coordinate training for new and existing staff on operating policies, protocols, systems and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Drive consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the CARES service strategy (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off).
  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, clearly communicating each step of the care/interactions as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and site management to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries.
  • Anticipate patient needs and participate in service recovery by applying the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify); escalate to leadership as appropriate.
  • Share ideas to improve patient experience and access with appropriate leadership (e.g., scheduling optimizations, reducing delays, increasing engagement).
  • Partner with the Patient Access Center and Central Billing teams to support collaboration and a positive patient experience.
  • Ensure practice staff are fully versed in the Access Agreement gold standard principles.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, healthcare administration or related field required. MBA or Health Care Administration preferred. Requires 6–8 years in a hospital or healthcare setting with experience in healthcare finance, medical reimbursement, and managed care contracts. Two to three years of managerial experience in a Professional Billing Office. Thorough knowledge of billing requirements/regulations of major third-party carriers.

Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to guide, direct, train and interact with staff and external contacts. Ability to conceptualize workflow, develop plans, and implement actions. Ability to create a positive environment where staff are valued and respected for their contributions. Professional demeanor.
