Position Title ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/COMMUNICATION & ED OUTREACH

Position Summary Supports the Center with communications, social media efforts, and the production of marketing materials that advance the Center’s initiatives. Supports outreach efforts through the facilitation of programming for high school students.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant marketing or communications experience.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, including knowledge of AP style.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating programming for high school students.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital communications technology, including social media platforms and email management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills. Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and consultants.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of Central Michigan University brand standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization, web/social media, and accessibility best practices.
  • Knowledge of website and social media analytics, including Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of charter public schools.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages the Center’s social media strategy.
  • Leads the development of content creation for all social media platforms.
  • Assists with the development of content for the Center’s website.
  • Executes all digital communications projects utilizing email and text messaging.
  • Serves as a facilitator of college pathways programming and content for high school students.
  • Researches and communicates stories that share the positive results of our partner charter schools.
  • Ensures the Center’s compliance with brand standards and guidelines from the university.
  • Assists with communications project development from initiation to closure.
  • Implements the Center’s messaging to ensure organizational consistency and increase exposure for the Center.
  • Assists with special projects.
  • Assists with communications projects to market programs and events.
  • Supports professional development initiatives by assisting with presentations, speaker comments, invitations, and programs.
  • Manages the process for gathering and analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of all digital communications initiatives.
  • Researches current and emerging digital trends and best practices.
  • Completes other projects as assigned.
