Job summary

AHRC Nassau seeks a Residential Services Supervisor to oversee a cluster of residences within the Community Living Services program in New York. You will supervise House Managers, review compliance, and coordinate with clinical teams to ensure high-quality services.

The role requires at least 5 years’ experience with the developmentally disabled population, supervisory background, and a valid NYS driver’s license. Travel and weekend coverage apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with developmentally disabled populations.
  • Prior supervisory experience is required.
  • Must have valid NYS Driver’s License and be able to travel between sites.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internal web apps.

Job description

Overview

Coordinates and ensures effective supervision of a cluster of residences in the Community Living Services Program. Provides support for the Residential Services Program to ensure effective and efficient operation as well as compliance with policies and regulations. Must be able to travel from site to site and participate in elements of the position that include review of compliance. Must be available for weekend and overnight visits as assigned by the Director.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises House Managers/Supervisors through frequent phone contact, scheduled meetings, and visits to homes at least weekly to ensure the overall effectiveness of each residence. Conducts compliance reviews and works to resolve systemic findings including oversight of plans of corrective action development and submission.
  • Reviews program files monthly for each resident by reviewing progress notes, assessments, fire drill reports, clinical reports, annual reviews, etc. to ensure all documentation is within compliance with OPWDD regulations.
  • Confers with clinical and nursing staff (Behavioral Specialists, Day Program, OT, PT, SLP, Nutritionist, CSW) through scheduled meetings and frequent phone contact to disseminate and receive resident specific information relating to the delivery of clinical and medical services.
  • In conjunction with House Managers and Recruitment Department hires new employees and ensures that all personnel documentation is completed to ensure that each residence is adequately staffed with qualified candidates.
  • Ensures the accuracy of financial records for each resident by reviewing and signing ledgers monthly to ensure accuracy and accountability of all transactions.
  • Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team by participating in quarterly/annual team meetings to review the progress and current level of functioning of each resident.
  • Serves as a member of the Incident Review Committee by participating in scheduled meetings to offer suggestions and recommendations that will prevent future incidents.
  • Meets with family members or legal guardians of each resident at least quarterly through scheduled meetings to discuss any and all issues relating to the operations of the residence.
  • Ensures House Managers adhere to confirmed staffing patterns by reviewing all payrolls information (time reports, overtime verification forms, etc.) at least biweekly to assist each residence in maintaining their designated budget.
  • Ensures that ongoing communications exist between the CLS Program and designed Day Programs (DTP, Vocational Centers) through scheduled meetings and frequent phone contact to ensure the integration of services.
  • Ensures that ongoing communications exist within assigned clusters of residences by scheduling cluster review meetings, frequent phone contact, and documentation to exchange information.
  • Assists all CLS program staff in crisis situations by carrying a beeper to be readily available in the event of an emergency.
  • Performs other job duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Ensures that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff. Observance of an unsafe act or a potentially hazardous work environment must be immediately reported to supervisor and/or safety committee.

This position requires regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with people receiving services and, therefore, is subject to successful completion of fingerprint/criminal background check.

Qualifications
  • BA or B.S. in Human Services or related field
  • Valid and qualified NYS Driver’s License
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with the developmental and intellectual disabled population.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Must be available for alternate weekend duty.
  • Computer literacy preferred.
  • Ability to master all Microsoft Suite applications and internal web applications (example: Medisked, Ulti-pro, etc.).
