Job summary

Elon University in Elon, North Carolina, invites applications for the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Sports Programs. This full-time, staff position leads a dynamic team and daily operations of club sports, intramural programs and related recreation services to enhance student wellness and campus life.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport management or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience; a master's degree is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sport management, health, physical education, or related field with 2 years of post-bachelor's experience.
• Master's degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field and 1-2 years of experience in collegiate recreation strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification required; instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Club Sports administration: budgets, scheduling, leadership development, and policy compliance.
• Manage Intramural Sports and Outdoor Facilities including fields and courts; supervise student staff.
• Participate in Campus Recreation staff meetings and assist in budgets and training.
• Promote inclusive, safe, and engaging recreational programs and partnerships on campus.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sport management, health, physical education, or related field

1-2 years of experience in collegiate recreation (preferred)

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to utilize student development theory
