Job description

Who We Are:

Across North America and all over the world, Mathnasium Learning Centers are committed to teaching children math so that they understand it, master it, and love it.

Our world-class curriculum is built upon the Mathnasium Method— the result of decades of hands-on instruction and development — and has changed the lives of children since 2002.

Why Work with Us:

At Mathnasium, we’re passionate about both our students and our employees!

We set ourselves apart by providing our centers and center directors with:

  • A rewarding leadership opportunity to transform the lives of 2nd-12th grade students
  • A fun, supportive, and encouraging work culture
  • Continuous training on education, sales, and management best practices
  • All necessary curriculum and instructional tools

If you are driven, motivated, and eager to make a difference, we would love to meet you!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Operational Leader on Site - Act as the primary decision-maker in the Center Director’s absence, ensuring the center runs smoothly, professionally, and efficiently at all times.
  • Lead and Manage the Instructional Team - Coach, mentor, and hold instructors accountable for delivering high-quality instruction using the Mathnasium Method while maintaining strong team morale and professionalism.
  • Oversee and Direct the Instructional Floor - Manage student-to-instructor flow, maintain structure and productivity, and ensure no idle time during both high and low attendance periods.
  • Drive Student Engagement & Retention Strategy - Monitor attendance trends, proactively contact families when engagement declines, and address potential cancellations or account holds before they occur.
  • Own Parent Communication & Customer Experience - Provide timely, professional communication regarding student progress, concerns, and enrollment matters while building strong, trust-based family relationships.
  • Support Enrollment & Growth Initiatives - Respond promptly to new leads, schedule and support assessments, assist with student onboarding, and contribute to meeting enrollment and retention goals.
  • Ensure Operational & Administrative Excellence - Maintain accurate student records, learning plans, scheduling awareness, payroll coordination, and system organization to protect center efficiency and profitability.
  • Model Leadership Through Instruction & Presence - Teach and tutor students as needed while demonstrating instructional excellence, professionalism, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for math education and a genuine commitment to student success
  • Strong leadership mindset with the ability to manage both people and operations in a fast-paced academic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to balance educational leadership, customer service, and operational responsibilities
  • High level of professionalism, accountability, and initiative
  • Exceptional math competency through at least Algebra II
  • Experience working with children in an educational, tutoring, or mentoring setting preferred
  • Ability to coach, guide, and hold team members accountable in a supportive manner
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks during busy and low-attendance periods
  • Proficiency with computers, digital learning platforms, and basic administrative systems
  • Willingness to learn and fully implement the Mathnasium Method and center-specific operational standards

All applicants will be required to take a math literacy test to demonstrate math proficiency, provide work authorization, and pass a background check.

Preferred
  • Prior experience in tutoring, education, academic centers, or youth programs
  • Experience with parent communication and student progress reporting
  • Comfort with enrollment conversations and community-facing interactions
  • Ability to think proactively about student retention, attendance trends, and center growth
